Fr. Michael E. Klarer Biography

Family

Born June 23, 1953 to Emil and Marcella Kammerude Klarer in Monroe at St. Clare Hospital. Grandparents Christian and Kathryn Klarer were immigrants to Monroe from Appenzell Switzerland. Peter and Mary Kammerude were from near Blanchardville, WI. Siblings: Patrick of Verona, Mary Kay Logemann of Lancaster, Ellen Malkow (Mike) of Monroe. Nephews Jonathan Klarer Logemann of Chicago, Christopher Michael Malkow of Monroe; Neices Jennifer Ellen Malkow of Monroe, Teresa Jean Logemann of Minneapolis (UMinn).

Baptized at St. Victor Church on July 25, 1953 by Fr. Eugene McCollow. Godparents were Lavern Kammerude (uncle) and Agnes Klarer Kammer (aunt). Fr. Klarer also received First Confession (1961), First Holy Communion (April 22, 1961), and Confirmation (1966 by Auxiliary Bishop Hastrich). He celebrated his Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Victor Monroe on June 3, 1979.
